Once you have sent your mothers day flowers the person you have sent them to will need to look after them to help prolong their lifespan. A good florist such as the ones we have recommended be it a large company like Marks and Spencers flowers or one of the smaller family run florists will include written care details along with your flower delivery. If some flower food has been included, this should have instructions too. There are other things that will prolong the life of the fresh flowers that you have bought or the fresh flowers by post delivered to you.
Cut about 2-3 cms off the stem of you flowers at an angle to increase the surface area of the stem which will absorb the water. This should be done with a sharp knife or scissors to stop the stems being crushed. This should be completed under a running tap. Put the cropped flowers straight into the vase where they will be exhibited. Do not let the stems dry out.
Bouquets are made up of several types of loose flowers, this means that the can be opened and the flowers can be separated and arranged as you like them, in one or more vases, depending on the size of your bouquet. Cut and vase the flowers as detailed and follow the other General flower care tips
Hand tied bouquets are designed to be left tied together. They have already been put together in an arrangement by the florist. Leaving them tied will not harm the flowers, it will save you time and you will be glad you did because the flowers are left as they were designed to be - beautiful.
It is important with Flower Arrangements to remember to keep the water topped up every couple of days. Put the water into the centre of the arrangement, but be careful not to put in too much.
